Restoring democracy and placing power into the hands of local people . The right for individuals to self determination must be debated. Local Government and empowered local people must be at the forefront of change . Since 1974 the governing at local level has gradually increased its distance from the governed. Freedom for locally elected members to make key decisions (as a collective)on behalf of those who elected them has been restricted as spending has increasingly been directed by central government. Without the need to lecture you on the concepts and dimensions of power it is clear that the Labour Party is reaching a critical point in time, with the General Election looming. Voter apathy has been caused specifically due to the above and mainly from a feeling that those making the decisions often have little or no direct knowledge of the local issues which they are deciding and serving. I do believe you understand the point I am trying to make. Change is coming to Doncaster and Great Britain, unfortunately like on previous occasions you will have neither the power nor the foot soldiers to stop it. There is nothing any body could ever say to the electorate that could be ever believed...and you want people to work with you.

I'm trying to find energy efficient windows (A rated) for my Mum but am finding it much harder than expected. The Energy Saving Trust website will find a long list of companies that supply energy saving windows, but there is no way of sorting this list according to your own postcode, so this list is mostly useless. To look at each company in turn would involve trawling through 69 web pages (yes, 69) and even then no contact details are given (I couldn't find them, anyway) http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Compare-and-buy-products/Glazing/Windows. At this most people would give up and just take the first ad out of Yellow Pages. I then found their link to http://www.bfrc.org which is better, but not very good. Here you can get a list of companies near your postcode OR search by window type & rating http://www.bfrc.org/Consumer/defaultDirectories.aspx This would be good if the two lists were combined so that you could narrow your choice of window type and find the nearest suppliers. Currently the only way to do this is with much cross referencing. If I wanted a gas engineer I could do such a search by criteria AND postcode by going to http://www.gassaferegister.co.uk and clicking on Advanced Options. Given that the Energy Saving Trust is supposed to be the UK flagship organisation in helping people save energy when making home improvements its website leaves much to be desired.

You and the other labour party members keep harping on about global warming, but how many mp's have duel fuel cars. Also you really need to find out how many schools employ taxi's to ferry school meals to other schools.
